Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! I know I am very late but better late than never they say! I hope you all had a fun filled Christmas with your families and you have started the New Year in style!

I need to begin with the biggest of apologies.....I can't believe I haven't posted on the blog since October 19th!!! Well actually I CAN believe that I haven't. We haven't had internet connection for several months and still don't, alongside end of year reports, all of the term 4 stuff at school not to mention preparations for Christmas, Christmas concerts, carols etc etc. I have been lacking in time....to say the least! I really have only had time, on the scrapbooking front, to keep up with my DT commitments at Scrapbookit!

Have you been over to Scrapbookit lately? The DT girls have been putting together some amazing layouts and cards for our challenges. Speaking of challenges I have not long completed my layout for the January challenge. I was lucky enough to be able to set this challenge and my oh my does it get you thinking! Jo has sent me the most gorgeous pack to work with. Thanks Jo! She will release the challenge on January 15th so make sure you keep your eyes on the blog!

Well, I hope to get back into my routine of blogging more regularly within the next week or so (once my internet is revived). Then I can share some of my latest bits and pieces with you all.

Thanks for visiting and I hope 2012 is a wonderfully successful year for you all.

Week 4 @ Scrapbookit....

How great has this month been at Scrapbookit??? I am just loving all of the creations from the Design Team not to mention the Gallery filled with entries.....they are fantastic!!!

If you haven't seen the entries in the Gallery - head over to see them by clicking on this link.... Scrapbookit Gallery.

If you haven't already seen it....here is the Week 4 sketch. Another Page Maps sketch......

Oct1012x12e
I just love this sketch....so much so that I had used it previously on a Scrap That Poetry challenge! This time though I used real stitching......Here is my take........

Cousins

I have used the Echo Park Playground Range - Red Rover and Hide & Seek. I also used some lovely Bakers Twine, embroidery thread, Core'dinations & Bazzill Cardstock, A2Z Scraplets Word - Cousins (which Jo sent me ages ago and I have finally found the right layout to use it on) and some White & Chocolate Mini Alpha Letters.

I covered the Scraplet with patterned paper - here is a close up!

And another close up......

The Week 5 sketch interpretation by Chantal has been posted and my oh my has she done an awesome job so make sure that you pop on over there to check it out.....Scrapbookit.

Until next time,

Week 3 @ Scrapbookit....

Doesn't time fly when you are having fun? We have just about finished Week 3 of the Birthday Celebrations.

Again, I used the Simple Stories Generation Collection that Jo sent me. This is layout 3 and card 3!!! Honestly, there is not much left of the collection.

This week's sketch is from Page Maps.

April1112x12d
And here is my layout. This is my Mum and my sisters on the day of my youngest sisters wedding. The thing I love the most about this collection is that it is so easily adaptable to male or female subjects.

I apologise if I don't blog for a while - we are writing end of year school reports so I may be a little tied up!!!!

Enjoy

Aimee's Christening

Well here I am finally uploading the gifts I created for Aimee's Christening. I did upload them on Saturday but had to remove them so as not to spoil the surprise for Shell and Jono. It was such a lovely day and we were so blessed to be Aimee's Godparents. She is so gorgeous (as are all of my nieces and my nephew)! I snapped this gorgeous photo of her on Sunday!

Dsc09221

Here is the Fairy Castle Drawers set by Kaisercraft that I painted and decorated for Aimee......

Dsc09188

I used the Pebbles Ever After Collection. It is so sweet isn't it. I lined one drawer with castles and the other with tiara's. I didn't want to go overboard with the embellishments - just a few little butterflies and some bling - of course!

Dsc09191

I also made a Kaisercraft Flower Mirror for her. Again, some bling and some handmade flowers for embellishment.

Dsc09193

Jo, from Scrapbookit, let me use her gorgeous butterfly die cuts - how beautiful is this one?

Dsc09197

Shell and Jono loved these gifts, I think!
Jason and I are also Godparents for Charlotte......I was so thrilled the other morning when I showed her (over Skype) the mirror I had made (I made Charlotte one for her Christening too!)......she got Jenn to go and get her mirror down and then showed me. When I asked her where she got it from she replied....."Oh, Aunty Mel, you made it for me!" It is so nice that she knew that and loves it like she does!

I hope everyone has had a lovely Melbourne Cup Day and have had a win on the horses! In our household sweep......I bombed out and Brayden cleaned up!!!!!

Sneak Peaks for Week 3 @ Scrapbookit.......

Hello Everyone,

Well, I am hoping someone can put the breaks on 2011.........it is going so fast and the scary thing is that there seems no relief in sight before.....shhhhh.....christmas!

Today I have a few sneak peaks to share with you for the third week of Scrapbookit's Mega Celebration Month. Liz posted a great layout and card today that you have just have to check out!! The rest of the DT girls will share with you their inspiration on Liz's sketch throughout this week........here are a few little sneak peaks of my layout.

Dsc09125

You might be saying.....that looks like Simple Stories and you would be absolutely correct - I told you I was in love! Not only did I do my own sketch with this kit as well as a card but I have also managed to get another two layouts and two cards out of it too!!!!! How awesome is that! I don't have even a little slice left but made sure that I got some more from Jo this week.....:D)

But the thing I love most about this paper was that it was sooooo versatile. One of my layouts was a "BOY" layout and one of the others was a "GIRL" layout........make sure you head to Scrapbookit this week to see my girly layout in the Week 3 reveals!

Finally make sure you head back here tomorrow where I will share with you a few little gifts that I have made for Aimee's Christening (our niece and goddaughter) tomorrow.

Until then,

Big Reveal

Last week I created a layout and card for Scrapbookit's Mega Birthday Celebrations. They were both based on this sketch by Page Maps.

Sept1112x12a

I have used the Simple Stories Generations Collection and absolutely have fallen in love with using this range. It is the collection that you always know you will need double of.

The photos were taken many moons ago.........oh to be a kid again!!!!

Thank you so much to the girls at Get Picky!!

Happy Birthday Victoria!

I have been waiting to write this post for a few weeks now and finally I can......

My gorgeous little niece 'Victoria' (some of you may remember when she was born in the US) turned 1 on Friday!!!! Hasn't time just flown.

I wanted to create something nice for her....but it also couldn't be too big or too heavy - postage to the US is incredible.

So, I decorated this cute little tin for her using the Crate Paper Collection ~ Paper Doll. I filled it with little hair ties and clips.

Dsc09049
I also made her a very special card....a flip card......using the same collection.
